How did VNTR turn out?

During K2022 this October, Venator (VNTR) will demonstrate its unrivaled expertise in making solar reflective pigments for the plastics industry. During Venator’s time in Dusseldorf, the company will highlight the breadth of its infrared reflective pigment portfolio – the most comprehensive of its kind available to formulators who wish to increase plastics’ thermal stability and durability – following record-breaking temperatures across Europe this summer.

With an innovative line of products that protect and extend the life of all kinds of plastic, from furniture and food packaging to car interiors and construction materials, Venator is a leading supplier of pigments and performance additives to the global plastics industry. Venator offers a variety of technologies when it comes to solar reflective pigments, including ALTIRIS.

It is an award-winning range of titanium dioxide (TiO2) pigments used for improving the durability and appearance of plastics and preventing discoloration and warping caused by sunlight. ALTIRIS W400 is a near-infrared reflecting pigment designed for exterior applications such as window and door profiles, sidings, decking, soffits, and fascias that can improve thermal stability and durability. ALTIRIS 550 and 800 are also offered by Venator for plastics with medium to dark colors

Venator also offers complex inorganic pigments that can enhance the visual appearance and durability of plastics, as well as improve their thermal stability. These include:

  • Colorplex pigments are ideal for high-performance applications in which weather resistance, thermal stability, and chemical stability are critical. From cobalt-based blues and greens to titanate-based yellows to oranges, to iron-based tans and browns, these pigments cover a wide range of color spectrums.
  • A range of metal oxide pigments called REFLECT pigments is designed to maximize solar reflectance and keep products cool in applications such as automotive interiors and architectural façades.
  • With SOLAPLEX, you can create a wide range of bright, clean, and highly reflective pigments that achieve enhanced luminosity from yellow to orange spectrum, while avoiding the hazards of cadmium and lead chromium.

How is VNTR doing?

Venator (VNTR) recently reported that its TiO2 products in the European and Asian regions experienced a significant decline in sales volume during the third quarter. According to VNTR, this could result in an approximately 25% drop in TiO2 sales volume during the third quarter. Since VNTR was unable to predict future outlooks and had persistently high European energy costs, production at its Uerdingen, Germany, the plant was reduced to minimum levels, and production at its Duisburg facility in Germany was also reduced.
