Because home charging accounts for 80% of EV charging, the goal of this cooperation is to give Uber drivers an easy-to-use and economical one-stop shop for home charging options. Wallbox will give Uber drivers a subsidised package that includes a Wallbox charger, smooth installation, and the ability to finance the package as part of the agreement.
The Bay Region was selected for the trial programme because the most of houses in the area are favourable to home charging, and the area is experiencing a growth in the adoption of EVs, in addition to its closeness to both Uber’s and Wallbox’s North American headquarters. If the pilot proves to be a success, the cooperation will be expanded to other places in the United States, Canada, and throughout the world.
