The producer and distributor of cannabidol products in a previous announcement had unveiled a data breach. The law firm of Federman & Sherwood on October 1, 2020 has announced initiation of an investigation into the company and its subsidiary CBD Industries, LLC related to that data breach incident.
In its announcement, cbdMD revealed that its e-commerce platform at the core of their online retail sales webpage, cbdmd.com, was breached to include malicious code. The implantation of malicious code increased the risk of exposing personal information of the customers to be unlawfully obtained by third parties.
The personal information so exposed could likely be customers’ name, billing address, email address, details of debit or credit card including expiry dates and card security codes, and customers’ bank account numbers. Customers who accesses cbdmd.com from March 30, 2020 through May 8, 2020 and May 14, 2020 through May 18, 2020 are more prone to the risk of that data breach, said the company.
In the process of the Sonic Drive-In data breach litigation to investigate the company to remain fail in securing the personal data of its customers, Federman & Sherwood has been appointed as lead council.
