“Due to the context that the industry is going through in the country, Movistar sees the need to carry out an adjustment of prices that allows sustaining the levels of quality of service required by customers, even more so at a time when digitization has a relevant role in the development of all industries and social sectors, “said sources at Telefónica’s mobile company.
In Movistar, the average increases will be around 10% for postpaid cell phone customers. And in the prepayments ends in October “the bonus granted in November 2019 and extended in March of this year,” said company sources. This means that Movistar will not have increases in prepayments during the month of September.
On the other hand, from Telecom Personal they indicated that there will be increases in prepayments during September, since “the commitment made between the Government and the telecommunications operators to keep prices frozen expires at the end of the month. Telecom is informing its clients of an average increase 11% in all its mobile services (prepaid / postpaid), fixed, Pay TV and fixed internet that will begin to be phased in from September 2020, “company sources said.
In Claro they indicated that the average increase will be 10% in postpayments, from September; while prepayments will have the increase that was to be applied in March and that was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Mobile service providers must report their price changes 30 days in advance. For this reason, they have already sent their clients the new values that will begin to take effect in stages starting next month.
In the case of Movistar, the increase in fixed Internet will be 9% in September for half of its customer base. “Likewise, that month will also end the bonus of $ 104 granted in November 2019 for the subscription of fixed telephony,” said the company.
Anyway, all the providers clarified that the “inclusive” plans will not have changes until the end of September, whose prices start at $ 100 for cellular prepayments and could be maintained beyond that date.
The “inclusive” cell phone and mobile Internet combo for postpaid customers is priced at $ 280. And the fixed Internet is at $ 830 per month.
